Oxygen Sensor
CAUTION:
NEVER apply voltage to the oxygen sensor. NEVER use an ohmmeter to test the oxygen sensor.
- Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Disconnect oxygen sensor connector. Using a voltmeter, connect one probe to oxygen sensor side of connector. Connect one voltmeter probe to ground.NOTE: Be sure to use an accurate voltmeter such as a digital voltmeter to ensure accuracy.
- Run engine at 1500-2000 RPM. Turn wide open throttle switch off by moving lever down with finger. Voltmeter should show a reading of about .8 volts. Run engine at 1000-1500 RPM. Disconnect mixture control valve vacuum hose from intake manifold. Check that voltmeter reading drops to below .2 volts. If there are any abnormal readings, continue with ECM circuit tests. If not, reconnect vacuum hose and oxygen sensor connector.
