Oxygen (O2) Sensor

CAUTION: NEVER apply voltage to O2 sensor and NEVER use an ohmmeter for testing. Use only a DVOM for testing.
  1. Ensure engine is at normal operating temperature. Disconnect oxygen sensor. Attach DVOM to O2 sensor connector terminal and ground. Increase and maintain engine speed at 1500-2000 RPM. Turn wide open microswitch off by moving carburetor lever downward. DVOM should show a reading of about .8 volts.
  2. Decrease engine speed to 1000-1500 RPM. Disconnect mixture control valve vacuum hose at intake manifold. DVOM reading should drop below .2 volts. If not within specifications, replace O2 sensor.
