Idle Switch Inspection

  1. Locate check terminal behind right side of instrument panel. See Fig 1 . Attach negative lead of ohmmeter to terminal and positive lead to ground. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. Ohmmeter indicator should momentarily deflect.

  2. Move throttle to the 1/2 open position. Ohmmeter indicator should indicate infinity. Move throttle to the wide open position. Ohmmeter indicator should momentarily deflect. If ommeter indicator has no response, reverse leads and repeat inspection. If ommeter indicator rsponds incorrectly, proceed to step 3).
  3. Remove carburetor and secure idle cam in the counterclockwise position. Attach ohmmeter leads to idle switch connector terminal (Green). With throttle valve in the idle position, ohmmeter should read zero. With throttle valve in the 1/4 to 12 open position, ohmmeter should read infinate. If not, replace idle switch.
