Mixture Control (MC) Solenoid

  1. Start engine and listen to MC solenoid for clicking sound. If clicking is present, solenoid is functioning properly. If not, turn ignition off. Disconnect MC connector.
  2. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage on Black/White wire of MC solenoid harness. Battery voltage is supplied by 15-amp fuse in fuse panel. Fuse also supplies voltage for ignition and remaining solenoids.
  3. Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance across solenoid terminals. Continuity should exist; however, zero resistance is an indication of a shorted solenoid.
