Retrieving Codes
- Ensure battery has at minimum of 11 volts. Always use a digital type test meter. Never connect or disconnect ECM wire harness connector when ignition is in the "ON" position.
- When performing diagnostic procedures, DO NOT apply meter probes to ECM unless wire harness connector is attached. Checks are made from the rear side of the ECM wire harness connector.
- When performing terminal checks, ensure that negative probe is grounded to vehicle body. See Fig 1 . Proceed to TROUBLE CODE CHARTS to retrieve stored codes.
NOTE:
On Swift models, code 41 (No Ignition Signal) will not store in ECM memory after key is turned off. If vehicle does not start, install fuse in diagnostic test terminal with ignition switch in the "ON" position after cranking engine for at least 3 seconds.
