Idle Speed
- Idle speed is controlled by the ISC solenoid valve and should not require adjustment. If idle speed needs to be changed, warm engine to operating temperature and turn all accessories off. Ensure that all fuel and emission control system wire connectors and hoses are properly connected.
- Attach tachometer and ensure ignition timing is correct. Install spare fuse in diagnostic switch terminal in fuse box ("CHECK ENGINE" should indicate Code 12). Remove idle adjustment screw cap from throttle body and rotate adjustment screw to obtain correct idle RPM. See Fig 1
.
- On vehicles equipped with A/C, turn switch on and set heater blower switch to the low position. With A/C operating correctly, verify idle is 850-950 RPM. If adjustment is required, turn A/C Vacuum Solenoid Valve (VSV) adjustment screw to obtain correct idle.
