Idle Speed & Ignition Timing

Ensure idle speed and base ignition timing are set to specification. If necessary, see ADJUSTMENTS article in this section.

IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS (1)

Application Idle RPM
With A/C Off 750-850
With A/C On (2) 950-1050
(1) Idle speed specification is with trans. in Neutral or Park.
(2) The A/C idle speed is adjusted by rotating adjustment screw on A/C Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV)
IGNITION TIMING (Degrees BTDC @ RPM)

Application Man. Trans. Auto. Trans.
Samurai (1) 7-9 @ 800 N/A
(1) Specification is listed with jumper wire installed between terminals "C" and "D" (Black/Green and Blue wires) of test connector, located near the battery.
