Fuel Pump Relay (Samurai & Swift)

  1. On Samurai, relay is mounted to ECM, behind right side of dash. On Swift, fuel pump relay is located in main fuse box in engine compartment, between battery and left inner fender. See Figure .
  2. On all models, turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect relay connector and remove relay. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between terminals "A" and "B". See Fig 1 . If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, replace relay.
  3. Check resistance between terminals "C" and "D". If resistance is 56-84 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 56-84 ohms, replace relay.
  4. Energize relay by applying battery voltage to terminals "C" and "D". Check continuity between terminals "A" and "B". If continuity is present, relay is okay. If continuity is not present, replace relay.
