Idle Speed

Start and warm engine to operating temperature. Turn all accessories off. Ensure all fuel and emission control system wire connectors and hoses are properly connected. Ensure accelerator cable has free play at throttle body. Ensure ignition timing is correct. See IGNITION TIMING table. Ensure air cleaner and ducting are properly installed and that air filter element is in good condition.
Attach tachometer to negative coil terminal (Brown/White wire) using adapter or attach an inductive pick-up type tachometer. Accelerate engine to 1500 RPM or more and return to idle. If idle speed is not within specification, rotate idle speed adjusting screw to obtain correct idle RPM. See Fig 1 . See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS table.

NOTE: DO NOT adjust idle speed in areas above 8200 ft. elevation.
