Idle Speed Control (ISC) Solenoid (Sidekick)

  1. The ISC solenoid is mounted on throttle body. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 6-pin connector at throttle body.
  2. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between Blue and Light Green/Black wire terminals of connector. If necessary, unlock and remove wire terminals from connector for easier access. Resistance should be 5.4-6.6 ohms at 68°F (20°C). Replace ISC solenoid if resistance is not within specification.
CAUTION: DO NOT  apply battery voltage to ISC solenoid for more than one second. Wait 10 seconds before reconnecting battery voltage to ISC solenoid.
  3. To check ISC solenoid operation, remove ISC solenoid from throttle body. While observing valve through hole in flange, apply battery voltage to Blue wire terminal and ground Light Green/Black wire terminal. Note if valve operates. Replace ISC solenoid if defective.
