Idle Speed Control (ISC) Solenoid

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect electrical connector from ISC solenoid.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ISC solenoid terminals. Resistance should be 30-33 ohms (11-14 ohms on Sidekick). Replace ISC solenoid if defective.
  3. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. With running and electrical connector removed from ISC solenoid, disconnect ISC solenoid hose from lower port on ISC solenoid.
  4. No air should be drawn into the hose. Connect battery voltage and ground to ISC solenoid terminals. Air should now be drawn into the hose. Replace ISC solenoid if defective. Reinstall hose.
CAUTION: DO NOT  apply battery voltage to ISC solenoid for more than one second. wait 10 seconds before reconnecting battery voltage to ISC solenoid.
