No-Load Performance Test

  1. Using a jumper wire, connect battery negative terminal to starter housing. Connect battery positive to ammeter. Connect other side of ammeter to starter "S" and BAT terminals. Ensure starter rotates smoothly.
  2. On Samurai, starter current draw should be less than 60 amps at 11.5 volts. On Sidekick and Swift GT (A/T), starter current draw should be less than 90 amps at 11 volts. On Swift GT (M/T), starter current draw should be less than 90 amps at 11.5 volts.
  3. On all Swift models using conventional type starter, starter current draw should be less than 50 amps at 11 volts. On Swift models using reduction type starter, starter current draw should be less than 90 amps at 11.5 volts.
