Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable and TP sensor connector. See Fig 1 . Using ohmmeter, check resistance between indicated terminals. See THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR RESISTANCE  table.
  2. If resistance is not as specified, adjust the TP sensor. See the ADJUSTMENTS article. If resistance is not as specified after adjustment, replace TP sensor. For further diagnostic procedures, see the TESTS W/CODES article.

Between Terminals "A" & "B"
With .012" (.30 mm) Clearance At Stop Screw 0-3000
With .024" (.60 mm) Clearance At Stop Screw Infinity
Between Terminals "A" & "D" 2870-5330
Between Terminals "A" & "C"
At Idle 130-10,930
At Wide Open Throttle 2020-14,640
