DTC 14 - Abs Enable Relay Contact Circuit Open: Notes

NOTE: For circuit and connector terminal identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .

Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal No. 2 of the ABS enable relay. The EBCM engages pull-in coil of relay by completing the ground circuit at terminal D6 of EBCM harness connector. This energizes relay windings, closing the internal contacts which supplies power to the motors and solenoids. DTC 14 can set anytime after the EBCM commands the ABS enable relay on.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This checks to see if EBCM is sensing battery voltage at EBCM terminal "A".
  2. Checks for proper operation of ABS enable relay and related circuit.
  3. Checks for excessive resistance in the switched battery input circuit.
  4. Checks for excessive resistance in the battery feed circuit.
  5. Determines if the malfunction is due to a poor connection.
  6. Determines if the malfunction is due to the EBCM.
  7. Checks for excessive resistance in the ABS relay control circuit.
  8. Checks for proper battery voltage.
  9. Checks for an open in the battery feed circuit.
  10. Checks for an open in the switched battery feed circuit.
  11. Checks for proper operation of the ABS enable relay.
  12. Checks for excessive resistance in the ignition switch feed when ignition switch is in the ON position (DEF fuse).
  13. Checks for excessive resistance in the ABS enable relay coil.
  14. Checks for excessive resistance in the ABS enable relay circuit between the relay and EBCM.
  15. Checks for excessive resistance in the ABS enable relay control circuit between the relay and connector E55.
