DTC P1460 - Radiator Cooling Fan Control System Malfunction

  1. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and PCM harness connector "A", terminal No. 20 when coolant temperature is less than 199°F (92.5°C). If reading is 10-14 volts, check for an intermittent problem. Refer to the appropriate TESTS W/O CODES article. If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove radiator cooling fan relay located in engine compartment relay/fuse box. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals No. 3 and 4 of relay. See Figure . If resistance is 79-95 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace relay. Retest system.
  3. Check Black/White wire between radiator fan relay and IG fuse for an open or short. Check Blue wire between PCM and radiator fan relay for an open or short. Repair as necessary. If wires are okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
