Ignition System: Distributor: Removal

Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect distributor harness connector. Remove distributor cap. Mark rotor-to-distributor housing and distributor housing-to-engine positions for reinstallation. Remove distributor hold-down bolt and remove distributor. See Fig 1.

NOTE: Ensure pick-up coil magnet is free of any metal particles.

NOTE: Distributor drive coupling and camshaft slot are offset. Distributor cannot be installed backward.
