Description & Operation

The power window system consists of 4 motors or actuators (one mounted on window regulator for each door). Esteem models use a master switch (located on driver's door trim panel) and individual switches mounted on each door are used. Sidekick and X90 use a master switch for driver's and passenger's window mounted on driver's side door panel. If equipped, a center console switch assembly provides controls for rear windows and 3 individual window switches (located on passenger's door and both rear door trim panels). See Figure .

On all models, when ignition switch is in the ON position, battery voltage is applied to all window switches. The master switch has a lock-out function to prevent unwanted operation of all power window switches (except driver's side main switch) by providing ground for all switches and motors. The master switch also contains an solid-state auto-down circuit for the driver's window and a POWER ON indicator light.
