Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

  1. Remove tank pressure sensor. Inspect fuel tank pressure sensor for clogged vent hole and pressure passage. Connect three 1.5 volt batteries in series. Connect positive terminal to "Vin" terminal of tank pressure sensor. See Figure. Connect negative terminal to "Ground" terminal. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between terminals "Vout" and "Ground". Voltage should be approximately 2.5 volts.
  2. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to sensor pressure passage. As vacuum is applied, voltage reading should decrease. Remove vacuum pump and apply light pressure to pressure passage. Voltage should increase. If readings are not as specified, replace tank pressure sensor.
