Engine Controls - Pin Voltage Charts: Introduction

Pin voltage charts are used for diagnosing intermittent symptoms and faults that can not be resolved during self-diagnostics. Pin voltage tests ensure Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is receiving and transmitting proper voltage and other signals. PIN voltage charts may be helpful in determining if there is an open or short in wiring harness.

Circuit resistance tests are used for diagnosing individual component circuit to the PCM. Circuit resistance charts may be helpful in determining if there is an open or short in wiring harness or the existence of a malfunctioning component.
