Engine Control Module Replacement

CAUTION: When ECM is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until adaptation systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES-SUZUKI article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

When substituting a known-good ECM, check for following conditions. Neglecting this check may cause damage to a known-good ECM.

Resistance value of all relays and actuators. See SENSOR OPERATING RANGE CHARTS article.
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor are in good condition, and power and ground circuits of these sensors are not shorted.
