Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

DTCs are retrieved using a SUZUKI or other OBD-II compatible scan tool connected to a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). See Fig 1. DLC is located below right side of steering wheel, accessible from driver's side. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions when retrieving DTCs. Diagnose DTCs according to chronological order. If a chronological order can not be established, diagnose DTCs testing DTCs P0171 and P0172 first, DTCs P0300-P0306 next and DTC P0400 last.
