Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts: Introduction

NOTE: For identification of ECM/PCM harness connectors and wire terminals, see PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS article.

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR VOLTAGE

(1) Measured at PCM with ignition on.
(2) Voltage toggles from 0-1 volt to 4-6 volts (4-5 volts on Aerio & Esteem) as magnet is passed by sensor face (one mm distance).
(3) Voltage toggles from 0-1 volt to 4-6 volts as CMP sensor coupling is rotated.
(4) Voltage toggles from 0-1 volt to 4-6 volts as crankshaft is turned slowly.
