Idle Air Control Valve Operation Check (AERIO)
- If scan tool is not available, go to next step. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. On scan tool, select MISC TEST mode. Using scan tool, open and close Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. If idle speed increases and decreases as IAC valve, IAC valve is okay. If idle speed does not open or close as specified, check IAC valve and circuits. See appropriate procedure under IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE SYSTEM CHECK .
- Access ECM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Using fused jumper wire connected to ground, jumper ECM connector C46 terminal No. 28. See Figure . Idle speed should increase and decrease as jumper wire is connected and disconnected to ECM. If idle speed does not open or close as specified, check IAC valve and circuits. See appropriate procedure under IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE SYSTEM CHECK .
