Ignition Spark Test

  1. Remove spark plugs. See SPARK PLUG REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Inspect spark plugs. See SPARK PLUG INSPECTION .
    WARNING: Be sure to disconnect injector connectors. Without disconnection of injector connectors, combustible gas may come out from spark plug holes during this test and may get ignited in engine compartment.
    NOTE: For identification of each cylinder, refer to PRECAUTIONS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF CYLINDER .
  3. Disconnect injector connectors.
  4. Connect ignition coil connector (3) to ignition coil assembly.
  5. Connect spark plug (1) to ignition coil assembly (3), and ground spark plug.
  6. Crank engine and check if each spark plug produces sparks.

  7. If any spark plug does not produce sparks, check ignition system. See IGNITION SYSTEM CHECK .
