TECH NOTES
Tech Notes are announcements that help to communicate and track new information about Tesla Service concerns. Such concerns may or may not be VIN specific. These instructions assume knowledge of motor vehicle and high voltage electricity repairs, and should only be executed by trained professionals. Tesla Motors assumes no liability for injury or property damage due to a failure to properly follow these instructions or for repairs attempted by unqualified individuals.
UPDATE TO SERVICE MANUAL
Service Manual Procedure 30010201, Subframe Assembly - Rear (Remove for Access), has been updated to include steps for preventing a noise path for motor hum to enter into the vehicle cabin.
REASONS FOR UPDATE
The acoustic padding above the rear subframe prevents most motor noise from entering into the cabin. However, sometimes cable ties or harnesses can press into the padding (Figure 1) or body (Figures 2 and 3), which provides a direct noise path from the motor into the cabin.
Refer to the "Installation" section of Service Manual procedure 30010201 when reinstalling the subframe to ensure that no components press into the acoustic padding.
