Module - Steering Column Control - Remove And Replace: Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Install a new airbag harness retaining clip.
  2. Press up on the red tab to adjust the position of the plastic housing. Rotate the housing until the clocksping cable is between the arrows and the tab returns to the locked position.

  3. Ensure that the pegs (x2) align to the slots in the steering column.
    CAUTION: Take care not to damage component(s).

  4. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 - Connect and Disconnect .
  5. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock
  6. For vehicles before Model Year 2015:  when replacing the SCCM with part number 1050752-00-B by an SCCM with part number 1057357-00-B or later: check the Gateway configuration for steeringWheel.
    1. In Toolbox, select the "Dashboards" tab and select "Infotainment Dashboard".
    2. Select "Vehicle Configuration".
      NOTE: Configuration values should load automatically. If not, select "Read Config" and click "Run" to load.
    3. Scroll down to "steeringWheel" and set the configuration to "steeringWheel=3".
    4. Select "Apply Changes", and then click "Run" to save the updated configuration.
  7. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen .
  8. If the Vehicle is equipped with a Gen 1 steering rack (vehicles built before April 10, 2016): In Toolbox 3, click the Actions  tab, type "Calibrate-Steering-Column" into the search field, click PROC_EPAS_X_CALIBRATION, click Run  , and allow the routine to complete.
    NOTE: After recalibrating the power steering, drive the vehicle for a minimum of 5 minutes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
  9. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions  tab, type "ESP-CONFIG" into the search field, click PROC_ESP_X_ESP-CONFIG, click Run  , and allow the routine to complete.
  10. Perform a Lock To Lock-Angle test. See Lock To Lock-Angle Test .
