Last modified: 27/03/2023 16:15:42
Revision History:
- 2023-03-23: Added information on the different types of reinstallations vs. FW versions.
CAUTION:
DO NOT perform a Partial or CAN reinstall to replace the MCU or DAS/FSD ECU. Doing so might cause irreapairable damage to components.
- DAS/FSD/IC : Use Full reinstall (touchscreen or Toolbox) or Garage. FW versions 2022.36 and feature/2022.8.10.6 (Tegra ONLY) onward also have DAS and IC (Tegra only) specific reinstall options
- MCU : Use Garage
NOTE:
This procedure describes how to reinstall the currently installed firmware using the vehicle touchscreen. The package will not be downloaded from Tesla servers.
- FW versions 2022.36 and feature/2022.8.10.6 (Tegra ONLY) onward:
- Full : Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to all components. Useful for when multiple modules are replaced at the same time (for example a DAS ECU and CAN ECU). DO NOT use this for MCU replacements.
- CAN : Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to all CAN ECUs. Do not use this for MCU, instrument panel (IC), DAS, or FSD module replacements.
- DAS : Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to replaced DAS/FSD ECUs.
- IC (Tegra only) : Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to replaced ICs (Tegra only).
- FW versions before 2022.36 and feature/2022.8.10.6 (Tegra ONLY):
- Partial : Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to all CAN ECUs. Do not use this for MCU, instrument panel (IC), DAS, or FSD module replacements.
- Full : Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to all components. Useful for when multiple modules are replaced at the same time (for example a DAS ECU and CAN ECU). DO NOT use this for MCU replacements.
NOTE:
Firmware reinstall is also available via laptop locally connected with Toolbox. It may save time to reinstall via Toolbox if a laptop is already connected due to the repair procedure. See Firmware Reinstall - Toolbox .
