Module - Steering Column Control - Remove And Replace: Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

CAUTION: Replace all nylon-insert locknuts.
NOTE: Clean the affected areas before installation.
  1. Replace the airbag harness retaining clip.
  2. Ensure that the pegs (x2) align with the slots in the steering column.
    CAUTION: Take care not to damage component(s).

  3. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See FIRMWARE REINSTALL - TOUCHSCREEN .
  4. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 (CONNECT AND DISCONNECT) .
  5. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See GATEWAY UNLOCK .
  6. If the Vehicle is equipped with a Gen 1 steering rack (vehicles built before April 10, 2016): In Toolbox 3, click the Actions  tab, type "Calibrate-Steering-Column" into the search field, click PROC_EPAS_X_CALIBRATION  , click Run  , and allow the routine to complete.
    NOTE: After recalibrating the power steering, drive the vehicle for a minimum of 5 minutes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
  7. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions  tab, type "Clear-Angle-Offsets" into the search field, click PROC_EPAS_ESP_CLEAR-ANGLE-OFFSETS  , click Run  , and allow the routine to complete.
  8. Perform a Lock To Lock-Angle test. See LOCK TO LOCK-ANGLE TEST .
