SERVICE INFORMATION
Recall Bulletin: Recall Bulletins are mandatory service procedures that, unless they can be completed via a firmware update that a customer installs through the normal course of ownership, must be carried out by Tesla-certified Service Centers. Recall work performed by uncertified technicians could lead to unsafe conditions or voided warranty provisions.
CONDITION
Certain 2017-2021 Model S and Model X vehicles may require a firmware update to address a possible reduction or loss of power steering assist. A reduction or a loss of power steering assist does not affect steering control, but may require greater steering effort by the driver, particularly at low speeds.
CORRECTION
Inspect the vehicle firmware version, and if necessary, update the vehicle firmware to version 2022.36.5 or later.

PROCEDURE
On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Software , and then scroll down to display the vehicle firmware version.
- If the vehicle is operating with firmware version 2022.36.5 or later, no further action is necessary. Use correction code S012200014.
- If the vehicle is operating with a firmware version before 2022.36.5, update to version 2022.36.5 or later (refer to Model S , Model X ). Use correction code S022200014.
