Firmware Reinstall - Toolbox: Notes

WARNING: This procedure is a DRAFT, although it has been validated. Warnings and Cautions might be missing. Follow safety requirements and use extreme caution when working on or near high voltage systems and components. Provide corrections and feedback to ServiceDevelopment@teslamotors.com.
NOTE: This procedure describes how to reinstall the currently installed firmware using a laptop with Toolbox 3 locally connected. The package will not be downloaded from Tesla servers.
  • Partial:  Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to replaced components having CAN ECUs.
  • Full:  Reinstalls the currently installed firmware package to the car computer and replaced components having CAN ECUs.
NOTE: Depending on the service procedure, the LV system may need to be supported with a battery maintainer:
  • If the service procedure does not disconnect LV, and the HV Battery contactors are closed at the time of firmware reinstallation, perform the reinstall as described in Firmware Reinstall - Contactors Closed .
  • Similarly: If the service procedure disconnects LV, and the HV Battery contactors are open at the time of firmware reinstallation, perform the reinstall as described in Firmware Reinstall - Contactors Open .
