Module - Steering Column Control - Remove And Replace: Install

  1. Position the steering column control module on the steering column, and then install the bolt that attaches the module to the column.
    NOTE: 1x bolt, 5 mm Allen, 9 N.m
    CAUTION: Carefully slide the steering column control module on to the steering column without rotating or damaging the components.

  2. Connect the steering column control module electrical connector.
    NOTE: Install a new orange retaining clip to the electrical connector (1028053-00-A). Perform a push-pull-push test to make sure the connector is seated properly.

  3. Position the steering column lower shroud on the vehicle, and then install the clip that attaches the lower shroud to the steering column.
    NOTE: Slide the lower shroud forwards to engage the datum.

  4. Install the screws (x2) that attach the steering column lower shroud to the steering column.

    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  5. Engage the clips (x4) and datums (x6) that attach the upper steering column shroud to the lower steering column shroud.

  6. Remove the red locking tab from the steering column control module.
    NOTE: Lift the tab to break it off.

  7. Install the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove And Replace) .
  8. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
  9. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
  10. Using a laptop, connect to the vehicle with an ethernet diagnostic kit and Toolbox 3.
  11. Perform a Service CAN Redeploy. See Firmware Reinstall - Toolbox .
  12. Select 'Actions' and search for 'SCCM'.
  13. Select 'PING-TP_SCCM', click 'Run', and allow the routine to complete.
  14. Select 'Actions' and search for 'STEERING'.
  15. Select 'TEST-SELF_VCLEFT_X_SWC', click 'Run', and allow the routine to complete.
  16. Select 'TEST-SELF_VCLEFT_X_STEERING-COLUMN', click 'Run', and allow the routine to complete.
  17. Select 'PROC-VCLEFT_X_STEERING-COLUMN-CALIBRATION', click 'Run', and allow the routine to complete.
  18. Select 'TEST-RESET_VCLEFT', click 'Run', and allow the routine to complete.
  19. Disconnect Toolbox 3 from the vehicle and remove the laptop and ethernet diagnostic kit from the vehicle.
