Four Wheel Alignment Check: Procedure
- At the alignment rack, verify that the turn and slip plates are locked.
- On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Suspension > Low
to set the vehicle ride height.CAUTION: Do not set Model X 2021+ vehicles to "Standard" ride height while performing the alignment.
- With the help on an assistant, align the vehicle to the alignment rack ramps, drive vehicle onto the alignment rack, and then shift into Park.
- Latch the seat belt to the driver buckle.
- Exit the vehicle, and then place wheel chocks at both sides of the LH rear wheel.
- Re-enter the vehicle, turn off the headlights and climate control, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode , shift to Neutral, exit the vehicle, and then manually latch the driver door.
- Raise the alignment rack to a comfortable working height.
- If a suspension component was recently installed and requires torquing while the suspension is loaded, torque the joint now:

- 21 mm ratcheting combination wrench
- 22 mm fixed head wrench
Bolt and nut that attach front aft link to subframe 127 N.m (93.7 ft-lbs)
- 21 mm combination wrench
- 21 mm socket
- 22 mm fixed head wrench
Nut and bolt that attach the front air spring module to the aft link 140 N.m (103.2 ft-lbs)
- 21 mm combination wrench
- 21 mm socket
- Install inflation hoses onto all four wheels so that tire pressures can be set automatically.
- Set the tire machine pressures to match those specified for the vehicle.NOTE: Refer to the "Tire and Loading Information" label located on the driver side B-pillar.
- Install the alignment heads to the center of the each wheel, and then adjust the side arms as necessary to grip the tires securely.
- Remove the tire inflation hoses from all 4 wheels, and then install all 4 valve stem caps.
- At the alignment machine, click or touch Begin Alignment and then enter the Service Visit information into the alignment machine.
- Verify that the turn plates are centered to the front tires, and reposition the plates as necessary.
- Remove the wheel chocks from the LH rear tire, move the vehicle forward by slowly rotating the tire counter-clockwise so that the front wheels center onto the turn plates, and then install the wheel chocks on either side of the tire.NOTE: The turn and slip plates should automatically unlock.
- Install the brake pedal depressor.
- Perform a steering wheel caster sweep, then center and level the steering wheel, and then install the steering wheel lock to keep the steering wheel in position.
- Verify the alignment parameters are in specification and print the vehicle alignment summary.
- If the parameters are not within specifications, discontinue this procedure and perform the four wheel alignment adjustment. See FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK AND ADJUST .
- Remove the steering wheel lock, the brake pedal depressor, the steering wheel level, and then place the vehicle into Park.
- Remove the alignment heads from all four wheels.
- Fully lower the alignment rack.
- Release the driver door latch.
- Remove the wheel chocks from the LH rear wheel.
- On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to turn jack mode off, release the passenger seat belt from the driver buckle, and then remove the vehicle from the alignment rack.
