Connect vacuum gauge to distributor sub-diaphragm hose. With cold engine, gauge should read manifold vacuum at 3000 RPM. With warm engine, vacuum should rise within 1-3 seconds after engine speed is raised to 3000 RPM. Vacuum should drop quickly when engine speed drops.
