Corolla FWD

  1. Warm up engine and check idle speed. Check throttle positioner setting speed. To adjust, disconnect hose from TVSV "M" port and plug "M" port. This disconnects choke opener and EGR system.
  2. Disconnect vacuum hose from throttle positioner diaphragm "A". Check that throttle position is set at first step (electrical load idle up). First setting speed is 800 RPM for manual transmissions and 900 RPM for automatic transmissions. If specified speed is incorrect, adjust by turning screw.
NOTE: Adjustment must be made with cooling fan off.
  3. Disconnect vacuum hose from throttle positioner diaphragm "B" and plug hose end. Verify throttle position is set at second step. Second step setting speed is 1400 RPM for manual transmissions and 1500 RPM for automatic transmissions.
  4. Reconnect vacuum hose to throttle positioner diaphragm "B". Verify engine returns to first step setting speed within 2-6 seconds. Reconnect diaphragm "A" and TVSV "M" port vacuum hoses. If no problem was found, system is okay.
