Temperature Switch Check

  1. Drain coolant and remove temperature switch No. 1. See Figure. Place switch in container of water below 109°F (43°C). Connect an ohmmeter (with a 10-ohms resistor) to terminal and switch body. See Fig 1. Continuity should be present. Heat water to 131°F (55°C). Continuity should now be present.
  2. Remove temperature switch No. 2. See Figure. Repeat step 1) at 43°F (6°C) first and above 64°F (18°C) second. The readings should be the same. Replace switch as necessary. Apply sealant to threads of switch and install. Fill system with coolant.
