Description & Operation

Air Injection (AI) system is to aid in the reburning of the unburnt HC and CO content in the exhaust. Fresh air is drawn from air cleaner and compressed via air pump. This compressed air is directed into the exhaust port or atmosphere as determined by ECU. ECU receives various valve signals, depending on engine operating conditions, to determine compressed air flow. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 .

The components of the AI system vary with between models. See Fig 3. Operation of AI system is the same.
