Ignition Coil Primary Resistance Check

  1. On Corolla and Tercel, remove distributor cap, rotor and dust cover. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between positive and negative terminals. See Fig 1.
  2. On Pickup, measure resistance between positive (Brown wire) and negative (Black wire) terminals. See Fig 2.
  3. On all models, if primary resistance is not within specification, replace ignition coil. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE . table. If resistance is within specification, proceed to IGNITION COIL SECONDARY RESISTANCE CHECK .
