Vehicle Speed Sensor Test

  1. Raise one rear wheel off the ground and secure vehicle. Release parking brake and place transmission in Neutral. Disconnect wiring connector from EFI ECU, located behind glove box.
  2. Attach ohmmeter positive lead to connector terminal and negative lead to ground. See Fig 3. Ensure ohmmeter probe is inserted from rear side of connector. Turn rear wheel and monitor ohmmeter. Ohmmeter needle should deflect consistently.
  3. If ohmmeter does not deflect, check that vehicle speed sensor terminals at rear of speedometer are properly connected. If connection is okay, replace speedometer assembly.
