Ignition Coil Resistance Check (Primary)

  1. On Tercel, remove distributor cap, rotor and dust cover. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between positive and negative terminals. See Fig 1 .
  2. On Pickup, measure resistance between positive (Brown wire) and the negative (Black wire) terminals. See Fig 2. Refer to the IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table.
  3. On all models, if primary resistance is not within specification, replace ignition coil. If resistance is within specification, proceed to IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE CHECK (SECONDARY) .
