Test 4, Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit
- If speedometer fluctuates while driving at a steady speed, replace speedometer cable and recheck system operation. If speedometer does not fluctuate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 12-pin connector from instrument cluster. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 12 (Brown wire) of 12-pin connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair faulty ground or open in Brown wire between ground and 12-pin connector.
- Check vehicle speed sensor. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR TEST under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace vehicle speed sensor as necessary. If vehicle speed sensor is okay, connect instrument cluster connector. Disconnect CC ECU connector. Turn ignition on.
- Rotate speedometer shaft and measure voltage between ground and CC ECU connector terminal No. 8 (Green/Blue wire). If voltage changes from zero volts to 5 volts or more, replace CC ECU and recheck system operation. If voltage does not change as specified, repair open or short in Green/Blue wire between CC ECU connector terminal No. 8 and instrument cluster connector.
