Jam Protection Limit Switch
- Jam protection limit switch is used only on the power window on the driver's side front door. Remove door panel for access to electrical connector at power window motor. Disconnect electrical connector for power window motor.
- To check operation of jam protection limit switch in the window upward position, ensure window is half way open. Connect ohmmeter to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 1 in illustration. See Fig 1. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 1 in illustration. See Fig 1. Check that continuity exists when window is going upward and that no continuity exists when window is fully upward in the closed position. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace power window motor assembly. See POWER WINDOWS - CARS article.
- To check operation of jam protection limit switch in the window downward position, ensure window is fully upward in the closed position. Connect ohmmeter to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 2 in illustration. See Fig 1. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 2 in illustration. See Fig 1. Check that continuity exists when window is going downward and that no continuity exists when window is fully downward in the open position. Remove jumper wires and ohmmeter. If continuity is as specified, jam protection limit switch is okay. If continuity is not as specified, replace power window motor assembly. See POWER WINDOWS - CARS article.
CAUTION:
When testing operation of jam protection limit switch, ensure jumper wires are properly connected to prevent damage to jam protection pulse switch and jam protection limit switch.
