Jam Protection Pulse Switch
NOTE:
Jam protection pulse switch may also be referred to as jam protection pulse sensor or pulse sensor.
- Jam protection pulse switch is used only on the power window on the driver's side front door. Remove door panel for access to electrical connector at power window motor. Disconnect electrical connector for power window motor.
- To check operation of jam protection pulse switch in the window upward position, ensure window is half way open. Connect voltmeter to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 1 in illustration. See Fig 1. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 1 in illustration. See Fig 1. Check that pulse is generated when power window motor is operating and window is moving upward. If pulse is generated as specified, go to next step. If pulse is not generated as specified, replace power window motor assembly. See POWER WINDOWS - CARS article.
- To check operation of jam protection pulse switch in the window downward position, ensure window is fully upward in the closed position. Connect voltmeter to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor. Perform STEP 2 in illustration. See Fig 1. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage and ground to specified terminals on electrical connector for power window motor so that polarity is reversed. Perform STEP 2 in illustration. See Fig 1. Check that pulse is generated when power window motor is operating and window is moving downward. Remove jumper wires and voltmeter. If pulse is generated as specified, jam protection pulse switch is okay. If pulse is not generated as specified, replace power window motor assembly. See POWER WINDOWS - CARS article.
CAUTION:
When testing operation of jam protection pulse switch, ensure jumper wires are properly connected to prevent damage to jam protection pulse switch.
