Test No. 19: Rear Interior Light Does Not Operate
- Rear interior lights are located near top of each rear door. See Figure. Check light bulb for rear interior light. If light bulb is okay, go to next step. If light bulb is defective, replace light bulb and recheck rear interior light operation.
- Check DOME fuse (7.5-amp). DOME fuse is located in fuse/relay box at driver's side of instrument panel. See Figure. If DOME fuse is okay, go to next step. If DOME fuse is defective, replace fuse and repair wiring harness or electrical connector on wiring circuit as necessary and recheck rear interior light operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- Remove rear interior light from headliner. Disconnect electrical connector from rear interior light. Using ohmmeter, check that no continuity exists between electrical terminals on rear interior light with switch in OFF position and that continuity exists with switch in ON position. If operation is as specified, reinstall electrical connector and rear interior light. Go to next step. If operation is not as specified, replace rear interior light and recheck rear interior light operation.
- Check wiring harness and electrical connectors between battery, DOME fuse, rear interior light and ground connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. For additional wiring for DOME fuse, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary and recheck rear interior light operation.
