Test No. 55: Power Door Lock System Does Not Operate At All

  1. Check fuses and power supply for body Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and driver's door ECU. Body ECU is located at driver's side of instrument panel on the fuse/relay box. See Figure. Electrical connector B4 (25-pin) and electrical connector B5 (25-pin) are located at each side of body ECU and a 12-pin electrical connector at rear of body ECU. See Figure. Driver's door ECU is located on the driver's door and is incorporated into the power window switch assembly. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . For additional wiring for power supply circuit, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS and WIRING DIAGRAMS in KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - AVALON article. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If any fuse is defective, repair short in wiring for appropriate fuse.
  2. Check driver's door ECU and body ECU for proper voltage and input signals. See DRIVER'S DOOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT  and BODY ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If proper voltage and input signals exist, go to next step. If proper voltage or input signal does not exist, repair as necessary and recheck power door lock system operation.
  3. Replace driver's door ECU or body ECU with a known-good body ECU and recheck power door lock operation. If power door lock operates properly, original ECU was defective. If power door lock still does not operate properly, check wiring harness and electrical connectors for an intermittent problem. Repair wiring harness or electrical connector as necessary.
