Headlight Control Switch

  1. Remove necessary steering column covers for access to headlight control switch. See Figure. Disconnect 17-pin electrical connector from headlight control switch.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check for no continuity and continuity between specified electrical terminals on headlight control switch in relation to headlight control switch position. See Fig 1. See HEADLIGHT CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY  table. Replace headlight control switch if defective.

    Switch Position Switch Terminals No. Specification
    OFF (1) (1)
    TAIL 14 & 16 Continuity
    HEAD 13, 14 & 16 Continuity
    FLASH 7, 8 & 16 Continuity
    LOW BEAM 16 & 17 Continuity
    HIGH BEAM 7 & 16 Continuity
    (1) There should be no continuity between any terminals.
