Door Courtesy Switch

  1. For the driver's side front door, passenger's side front door and both sliding side doors, remove door courtesy switch from pillar post at rear of side door. See Figure. Using ohmmeter, check that continuity exists between electrical terminal and body of door courtesy switch with switch pin released to ON (door open) position and no continuity exists with switch pin depressed to OFF (door closed) position. See Fig 1. Replace door courtesy switch if defective.
  2. For back (rear liftgate) door, remove necessary panels and disconnect electrical connector for door courtesy switch. Door courtesy switch is located near latch assembly for the back (rear liftgate) door and contains a 2-pin electrical connector with Green/White and White/Black wires.
  3. Using ohmmeter, check that continuity exists between electrical terminals on door courtesy switch with switch ON (door open position) and that no continuity exists with switch OFF (door closed position). See Fig 2. Replace door courtesy switch if defective.
