With Hand-Held Tester

  1. Hook up the hand-held tester to the DLC3, located under driver's side knee, kick panel.
  2. Check that the shift lever is at P Position and the steering wheel is at the straight ahead position. Start the engine and check that the VSC TRAC warning light blinks. If the VSC TRAC warning light does not blink, inspect the VSC TRAC warning light circuit and Ts terminal circuit. See SYSTEM TESTING .
  3. Check the yaw rate sensor by shifting the shift lever to D and drive the vehicle at approximately 3 mph (5 km/h). Turn the steering wheel either left or right 90 degrees or more, and maintain 180 degree circular drive. Do not spin the wheels. At the end of the turn, the direction of the vehicle should be within 175-185 degrees of start position.
  4. Stop the vehicle, shift to P and check that the VSC buzzer sounds for 3 seconds. If the VSC buzzer sounds, the sensor check is completed normally. If the VSC buzzer does not sound, perform the sensor check again.
  5. If the VSC buzzer still won't sound there is a malfunction in the VSC sensor. Check the DTC. See Fig 1.
  6. Please refer to hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
