Shift Lock System: Inspection
- INSPECT SHIFT POSITION SENSOR
- Remove the steering column upper cover and lower cover.
- Disconnect the shift position sensor connector.
- Check continuity between terminals shown below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

0 - INSPECT SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID
- Disconnect the solenoid connector.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals.
Standard resistance: 29 - 35 W
If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the solenoid.
- Apply battery positive voltage between terminals. Check the operation.
If the solenoid does not operate, replace the solenoid noise can be heard from the solenoid.
- INSPECT KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID
- Disconnect the solenoid connector.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4.
Standard resistance: 12.5 - 16.5 W
If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the solenoid.
- Apply battery positive voltage between the terminals 3 and 4. Check that an operation sound can be heard from the solenoid.
If the solenoid does not operate, replace the solenoid.
- INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH
Check that there is continuity between terminals.
