Input Shaft ASSY: Overhaul
- REMOVE PLANETARY SUN GEAR SUB-ASSY
- Remove the planetary sun gear from the input shaft.
- REMOVE INPUT SHAFT THRUST BEARING RACE
- Float the input shaft thrust bearing race using a thin flat-head screwdriver if it is attached to the planetary sun gear.
- Remove the input shaft thrust bearing race No.1, No.2 and input shaft thrust needle roller No.1 bearing.
- INSPECT PLANETARY SUN GEAR SUB-ASSY
- Ensure that there is no damage or color change in the bush.
- Using a caliper gauge, inspect the internal diameter of the planetary gear.
Maximum diameter: 25.596 mm (1.00771 in.)

NOTE: Measure the diameter in a number of locations and use the average of the measurements taken.HINT:
Replace the planetary sun gear with a new one if the measurement exceeds the maximum diameter.
- INSPECT INPUT SHAFT THRUST NEEDLE ROLLER NO.1 BEARING
- Ensure that there is no abnormal wear or color change in the bearing.
HINT:
Replace the input shaft thrust needle roller bearing with a new one if there is abnormal wear or color change.
- REMOVE INPUT SHAFT THRUST BEARING RACE
- Apply ATF WS to the sliding surfaces of the bearing and install input shaft thrust bearing No.1, No.2 and input shaft thrust needle roller No.1 bearing.
- INSTALL PLANETARY SUN GEAR SUB-ASSY
- Apply ATF WS to the bush and install the planetary sun gear to the input shaft.
