CAUTION:
When removing deposits on the throttle body, be sure to remove the connector or remove the battery.
- INSPECT SYSTEM OPERATION
- Inspect the throttle control motor operating sound.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.

If the result is not as specified, check the throttle control motor (see step 2), wiring and ECM.
- Inspect the accelerator pedal position sensor.
- Connect the hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Make sure that the check engine warning lamp (CHK ENG) does not illuminate.
- When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever to the full-open position, make sure that the CURRENT DATA throttle valve opening percentage (THROTTLE POS) shows the standard value below.
Standard throttle valve opening percentage: 60 % or more
If the result is not as specified, check that the accelerator pedal position sensor (see step 4), wiring and ECM.
- Inspect the throttle control motor operating sound.
- INSPECT THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR RESISTANCE
- Disconnect the connector.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Resistance: 0.3 to 100 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body.
- INSPECT THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (See
DTC P0120: THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION, DTC P0122 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, DTC P0123 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, DTC P0220 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION, DTC P0222 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT LOW INPUT, DTC P0223 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "B" CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT, DTC P2135 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "A"/"B" VOLTAGE CORRECTION

If necessary, replace the throttle body assembly (see REMOVAL and INSTALLATION ).
- INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR (See
INSPECT ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR )
If necessary, replace the accelerator pedal assembly (see REMOVAL and INSTALLATION ).
